NEW YEARS EVE - ADLISWIL

Ok, so I'm cheating just a little - today is really Jan 5 and I'm updating this blog from Kentucky. We arrived home last night. Our holiday with Mikki and Chris's families was joyous, interesting, fun and one I'll never forget. I can't thank Antje, Chris and Mikki enough for welcoming us into their homes and lives. I hope all of you know how welcome you would be.

I'd hoped to take a little Tex-Mex to Switzerland and made chili rellenos for New Years ever but since I couldn't find the chilies - well that wasn't happening. Instead we had raclette - about my all time favorite meal. Antje cooks potatoes, adds lots of condiments, and then we grill the cheese and pour it over the potatoes. Heavenly

After dinner we relaxed and visited



Then we got serious - Philip gave Chris the Perfect Martini set - complete with the right size ice cube tray.

Fireworks - the Swiss or at least those that live around Antje & Chris's home love fireworks. About 11:00PM the church bells start ringing and the bells & fireworks seem to echo around the hills and mountains. One minute before mid-night; the bells stop, all is quiet and at midnight it all starts up again.

We were all outside laughing and hugging and watching the snow drift slowly to the ground.

MORNING WITH FAMILY

After a late night watching a move "PowWow Highway" (we explained that some of Jacob's early cars were the basis for the PowWow pony"); we were up to get the table work done and to greet Nancy, Maurizio and Anthea. All is going well, had a wonderful visit - Anthea's portfolio of work is amazing, particularly for one so early in her profession. Aunt Marilyn must be dancing a jig!!! What a talented group of young people - Kevin with his wood work, Emily's eye for art, Giorgia's mind for design and eye for possibilities, it goes on and on and on.

A successful walk and Jacque was happy to be out and about herding her people. Funny how inbred traits are - she would race back and forth, trying to keep all of us together.

CHRIS ACCOMPANIES KEVIN TO SUMMAGA

Kevin, his skills & his tools were needed in Summaga to cut up this big table. Chris came along because he owns the car that brought Kevin. The table belonged to Linda's family and is beautiful but waaaay too big for a normal room. Instead of letting it sit outside; Kevin was able to cut it in to two beautiful tables.
