Mennagio at last!

Finally we get off at the correct station - can be tricky in Como as there are 2 stations. Naturally we miss the
Mennagio bus by minutes & wait 30 mins. No ATM at the station - must remember that for future trips.

The C10 bus is a local; takes about an hour on the scariest road imaginable - lots of honks & cars backing up to give way. I mostly keep my eyes shut.

Anyway, we arrive in mennagio & after a short walk to the center, we stop at a cafe to have a spritz before going to the Hotel Garni. I've stayed here several times. This time we're in the same enormous room as last time - perfect for viewing the action in the plaza. Cost is 70€-cheap for the area.

We rest then walk around the center, get a gelato & go sit by the lake, watching the promonaders. It's fun. So many people are locals & stop to greet one another & visit.dinner is outdoors; by the lake. This is the land of 8:00-10:00 suppers, takes a little getting used to. Fortunately there's no need to gnaw the fingers what with so many bars & gelato shops. You get a mini-meal with every Spritz - peanuts, chips, olives, bread sticks, etc

We eat at the hotel corona. I started with goat cheese & trout. Then had raviolli & finished with salvisis. The latter I'm not having again!a lit match anywhere near me & I'd have been a human bonfire.
