Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

Schnorfville is a whirlwind of activities. We learn Gwen and Conall arrive safely in Ireland. We FaceTime with them. Antje and Chris welcome their neighbors and former owner of their home. I'm downstairs frantically trying to finish a scarf I'm knitting for Antje, wondering - just once, couldn't you plan better!!! Since arrival, I set my morning alarm and knit more rows. I can't wait to sleep in!

Kevin and Gini visit their grandfather while Larissa and I assemble the trifle. We discovered a beautiful glass bowl, so heavy i can't carry it to the downstairs kitchen for assembly. I never assemble a trifle that I don't think of my mother and nephews. The trifle was mom's idea and the little boys thought it was beautiful. The next year 7 yr oldJacob gave me a beautiful trifle bowl.

The day before, Gini and Larissa made the turkey stuffing, carefully following Chris's Oklahoma instructions; with me popping in saying - Oh make it your own. Add what you think will taste good. Not helpful.

I'm facsinated and amused to discover all these wonderful Oklahoma Foods. I sort of consider myself a bit of an Oklahoman. I love that Aunt Marilyn found ways to bring her childhood, memories and family with her - thru food. The kids remember the holiday meals in their grandma's home, continuing to duplicate it today. There are additions, something of Antje - beautiful red cabbage and a nod to Ireland, pureed parsnip/carrot.

Turkey prep, it was roasted to perfection
i kid you not, perfection!
my phone battery is almost gone; more later.
Next time, the man brings his own 🔪. Still the carving was impressive.
Dinner! Yum!
Antje always sets a beautiful table.
